Au-pair in Liechtenstein

There are few host families which would like to take an au-pair. The au-pair conditions in Liechtenstein are based on the European agreement about au-pair work.

Requirements for the au-pairs‘ stay in Liechtenstein:

- Single and without children
- Age: 18-30 years old
- Language knowledge: Basic knowledge of German
- Education: high school or college
- Au-pair‘s work period is from 3 to 12 months
- Work time is up to 30 hours per week, and 2-3 times of babysitting per week in the evenings are expected
- Perfect health certificate
- Non-conviction certificate
- Driving license is preferable
- Valid international passport or ID
- Experience in child care and household
- Au-pairs pay for their journey

Conditions for au-pairs in the host family:

- Own room and support
-  Pocket money: 720 CHF
-  A host family pays for language courses
-  A host family pays for insurances (social and accident insurances)
-  Vocation: one week of paid vocation in a half year of stay.
-  Medical insurance: please find out more information about it in your clinic or insurance company! Otherwise, insurance abroad is recommended!
-  A host family pays for execution of the residence permit (approx. 110-170 CHF)
 
Entry and stay formalities:

- For au-pairs from EU and Switzerland no visa is needed. Two weeks before an au-pair's arrival a host family should apply for the short stay permit at Foreign Department and Passport Office. For that the signed labour contract and registration at language courses are required in Liechtenstein.
Non EU au-pairs must apply for visa at Swiss embassy located in their native country. In this case a host family should apply for the short stay permit at Foreign Department and Passport Office. Besides, the following documents are necessary: the labour contract, a registration at German courses and some kind of obligation (guarantee of support, a letter of guarantee) of a host family. Au-pairs from the USA apply at the embassy of Liechtenstein in Washington.

Specifics:

- A host family's native language should not be the language of au-pair.
-  One parent should be at home by arrival an au-pair. For single parents there is another regulation.
