Au-pair
in South Africa
South Africa is located at
the south point of Africa and considered as a
developed country. The capital is Pretoria. South Africa has unusual and exotic
nature and varied animal world. Although South Africa is a multicultural country,
you can still see the apartheid, and the communities often live separately.
The traditional au-pair
program is not so popular in Africa yet.
However, there are some host
families in South Africa, which would like to have an au-pair. South Africa is
very interested in having German au-pairs, but the German-speaking au-pairs are
also welcomed.
Requirements
for the au-pairs' stay in South
Africa:
- Age: from 20 and 26 years
old
- Education: graduated from high school, college and etc.
- Experience in child care - 200 hours (for example, in kindergarten) or
certain education
- Driving license is preferable
- Good knowledge of English
- Help about the house is expected
- 2-3 times per week of babysitting
- Work time is 25-45 hours per week and made up by the host family
- Stay period: 12 months
- Non-smokers are more preferable
- Single and without children
Conditions for au-pairs in the host family:
- Own room and support
- Pocket money: 150-360 euro according to work hours
- 2 free days per week
- Vocation: one week of paid vocation in a half year of stay
-Language courses: in Africa au-pairs
pay for their language courses. By agreement sometimes the host family can take
costs for the courses upon itself.
Specifics:
-Termination period is 2 weeks according to the law.
-Medical insurance is not paid by the host family. That is why it is recommended
to execute an international insurance in your country.
Entry/Visa
For the visa application you need the following documents:
-Invitation letter from the host family
-Confirmation about medical insurance
-Copy of international passports of your host parents
-The au-pair contract
-International passport valid for at least 13 months from your entry date
-Booking of your roundtrip flight tickets
-Driving license
- Bacterination certificate
-The set documents should be filled in the South African embassy.
-Financial confirmation (a pass sheet, the au-pair contract and etc.)
-Medical certificate
